Which ProxysVPN File to Download for Mac: Apple Silicon, Intel or Big Sur, in 30 Seconds
In short: open the Apple menu → “About This Mac”. If it says “Chip” (Apple M1 or newer), take the regular image. If it says “Processor: Intel” and macOS 12 or newer, take the Intel image. If it says “Processor: Intel” and macOS 11 Big Sur, take the separate Big Sur file. All three are on the download page.
Step 1. Open “About This Mac”
In the Apple menu in the top-left corner of the screen choose “About This Mac”. The window shows the macOS version and a “Chip” or “Processor” line. That is how Apple tells them apart: an Apple silicon Mac says “Chip”, an Intel Mac says “Processor” and the name of an Intel processor.
Step 2. Find yourself in the table
| In “About This Mac” | What to download | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|
| Chip: Apple M1 or newer | The regular image | The “Mac” button on the download page |
| Processor: Intel, macOS 12 or newer | The Intel image | The “Mac with an Intel processor?” line |
| Processor: Intel, macOS 11 Big Sur | The Big Sur image | The “Mac on macOS 11 Big Sur?” line |
| Processor: Intel, macOS 10.15 Catalina or older | No build | Write to support |
Why Apple silicon Macs are not in the Big Sur line: they all run macOS 11 or newer and get newer system versions, so the regular image fits them.
Step 3. Download and install
- 1Open the download page and download the image from the table.
- 2Open the downloaded file and drag ProxysVPN to “Applications”.
- 3At the first launch click “Open” when macOS asks about an app from the internet.
- 4Get a sign-in code: in your dashboard, open the device card and press “Code for the app”. The eight-character code is valid for 10 minutes and works once. No account yet? Signing up takes a minute with an email address; Telegram is not needed.
If nothing fits
- Not sure which Mac you have: check the model against the list in the guide to Macs on Big Sur.
- The file downloaded but the app will not open: five checks.
- macOS 10.15 Catalina and older: there is no build for it. Write to support and we will tell you what can be done.
