Happ VPN Client: Download for Windows, macOS, Android and iPhone — What It Is and How to Set It Up (2026)
Happ is the most searched-for client in this space, usually by a one-word query. The confusion starts right there: people download it, open it and expect a connection to appear. It will not. Happ is a client — a free program that speaks VLESS Reality, Hysteria2 and a few other protocols — and it needs connection details from a service, normally delivered as one subscription link. Below: what it is, where to get it for each system and what to do after installing. One note first: on an iPhone, an iPad or a Mac it is simpler to start with our own app ProxysVPN, with no Apple ID change and a code instead of a link (iPhone, Mac); INCY is the reserve after it. If Happ works for you, there is no need to switch.
Where to download Happ, by system
- Windows 10 and 11 — the setup-Happ.x64.exe installer from the developer's GitHub; the link points at the latest release, so it does not go stale. On Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 Happ does not start — see the Windows 7 guide: a separate build of our app for 64-bit, v2rayN with a compatible core for 32-bit.
- macOS — one universal Happ.macOS.universal.dmg for Apple Silicon (M1–M4) and Intel. If macOS says the file is damaged, that is Gatekeeper, not a broken download.
- Linux — .deb, .rpm and .pkg.tar.zst for Arch.
- Android — Google Play, or the APK from GitHub when Play is unavailable. The same build runs on Android TV.
- iPhone and iPad — the real Happ (publisher Flyfrog LLC, iOS 15 or later) is listed only outside Russia. It was removed from the Russian storefront in March 2026, returned on 29.06.2026 as «Happ — Proxy Utility+», and was pulled again in August 2026. A search for «Happ» in the Russian App Store now returns third-party look-alikes — «Happ VPN Official», «Happ VPN ++», «Happ plus 2026» and the like. They are not Happ and should not be installed. INCY was removed from the Russian App Store as well, on 27.10.2026. Two honest routes are left: our own app through TestFlight (iOS 16 or later, no region change), or the real Happ (or INCY, same core and the same link) from the US storefront with an Apple ID whose region is the United States — the steps are in our guide on changing the App Store region to the US (in Russian).
- Apple TV — Happ Proxy Utility for TV, a separate app.
What to do after installing
- 1Get a subscription link from your service. With us it lives in the account: every device card has the link, a copy icon and a QR code next to it. Why it is a link and not a file — subscription links explained.
- 2Add it in Happ as a subscription, not as a single server: the app will then pull new locations and changed parameters on its own.
- 3Pick a location from the list that appears and tap connect. The system asks once for permission to add a VPN configuration.
- 4Check the result on the leak test page: the address must change to the server's address. The country that third-party databases show for it may differ from the location you picked; that is not a leak.
Four settings that solve most cases
Collected from support tickets: these are the switches after which things started working, ordered by how often they helped. All of them live in Happ's settings and take a minute.
- Local DNS. The tunnel is up but no site opens at all — try this first. The client resolves names through its own servers, and if your ISP does not let it reach them, the tunnel exists while names never turn into addresses.
- Fragmentation — on. Helps when some servers in the list respond and some do not: the network inspects the start of a connection and cuts it. If turning it on helped, that was the cause.
- MUX — off. It packs several connections into one, and on an unstable link that means all of them drop together.
- Preferred IP type — IPv4. If your provider gives you IPv6 too, part of the traffic may leave over it, outside the tunnel, into silence.
Happ or our own ProxysVPN app
Both are free, and both reach the same ProxysVPN servers. The difference is who makes them and how you sign in: Happ is a third-party app that takes a subscription link; ours signs in with a code from the dashboard, and one support team answers for the app and the servers alike. If Happ already works for you, there is no need to switch.
| What we compare | Happ | ProxysVPN (ours) |
|---|---|---|
| Where to get it | The developer's GitHub and Google Play; on iPhone only the US App Store | The apps page: Mac, Windows, Linux, Android (Google Play or APK); on iPhone — TestFlight, no region change |
| How to sign in | A subscription link from the dashboard, or a QR code | An 8-character code from the dashboard; no link to copy |
| Protocols | VLESS Reality, XHTTP, Hysteria2 and more — the Xray core | VLESS Reality, XHTTP, Hysteria2; the iPhone test version also carries our WataFast protocol |
| Russian sites | The routing profile that comes with the subscription | Direct in the «I am in Russia» mode, plus your own «always direct» list |
| Who answers for it | A third-party app: its authors ship the updates | Ours: one team maintains the app and the servers |
| Price | The app is free | The app is free; you pay only for server access |

Is Happ a VPN?
Not quite. It is a client that can connect to servers over several protocols. A VPN connection appears when server parameters are added to it; on its own the app connects nothing.
Is Happ free?
The app — yes, always and on every system. You can only pay for access to servers, and that is a separate service.
Why can't I find Happ in the App Store?
Because it is no longer in the Russian App Store. Happ was removed from that storefront in March 2026, returned on 29.06.2026 as «Happ — Proxy Utility+», and was pulled again in August 2026; it stays listed in other countries. What the search does return in Russia are third-party look-alikes — «Happ VPN Official», «Happ VPN ++», «Happ plus 2026» — which are different apps and should not be installed. Two working options: our own app through TestFlight (iOS 16 or later; INCY was removed from the Russian App Store on 27.10.2026), or an Apple ID with the US region, which lets you install the real Happ or INCY (how to change the region, in Russian).
I installed Happ but it does not connect
Almost always the subscription has not been added, or it was added as a single server instead of a subscription. Check that the list shows a subscription row and refresh it. If there is no such row, import the link again.
How is Happ different from v2RayTun, INCY and NekoBox?
The core is shared; what differs is the interface, the set of settings and store availability. The subscription link is the same everywhere, but it works in one app on one device at a time: before switching clients use ⋯ → «Reset device binding» on the device card in the cabinet, then refresh the subscription in the new one.
